Ugly bug picnic

We had an Ugly Bug picnic at Brownies to celebrate the end of term. The girls dressed up as ladybirds, butterflies and there was a great spider. You could nt call them ugly though, they all looked so sweet running about the grounds of the Cathedral and blowing bubbles.
The forecast had not been good, infact it was for heavy rain and earlier in the afternoon there had been heavy downpours and the children taking part  in the County games and the spectators got a drenching. We were SO lucky as apart from a drizzle when we were eating our picnic under the trees it remained dry. The umbrellas and waterproofs were not needed.
One of the Mums had made some spider cakes, yummy. I gave out the badges the girls had earned, I'm abit worried about the next generation as it seems to be the Grannies that sow then on :)
Two of our young leaders are off to a school in Malawi in Africa next week to help, really exciting for them and they said they would talk to the girls about their experience next term .
