The Dance of the Bunting

A slightly more welcoming light of late streaming through the window this morning, teased me out of bed to have a walk on the wild side.

It was dry and the sun was making a valiant effort to pierce the cloud, but it was blowing a hoolie. The harbour had a cacophony of noise with the rigging clanking on masts and flapping flags atop, frantic in the wind.
The bunting along the Street was jigging wildly in colourful arcs like miniature kites.

Unfortunately no sooner had I got back home than the rain swept in again and I could no longer see the lighthouse on Graemsay through the mist, far less the hills of Hoy. There will be no walking or cycling today, but a chance of pursuing more of the craft trail.

The bad weather yesterday meant indoor pursuits again, one of which was a leisurely look around the Pier Art Gallery on the shore. For me it beats so many of the big city art galleries with their hordes of people and vast cavernous rooms,

This one is intimate and light with white walls and quaint windows looking out to the sea. It has permanent collection of well known artists, and also hosts touring exhibitions.
At the moment it is a print one with a room of prints by Anish Kapoor the sculptor.
