Vatersay

Backblip.

This is one of the beautiful white beaches on Vatersay, joined by causeway to Barra. The sun was beautiful but winter woolies were required!

At the north of Barra is the airport with the runway a vast expanse of sand. It was great to watch the aeroplane take off from there (extra photo).

Then a short ferry crossing to Eriskay then North Uist. On the sea we were lucky enough to see three basking sharks (extra photo) gliding along. The holiday cottage on the island was lovely and corncrakes were calling all around.
