Alcudia

We had no idea what to expect of our trip to Majorca. I took complete pot luck, with some help from TripAdvisor when trying to find hotels and came up trumps  
We spent the first 5 days in Ca'n Picafort in the north, a holiday town, but low key. On day 1 we took a trip to Alcudia town, a 40 minute journey on the local bus. It turned out to be a delightful old walled town with narrow streets, nice restaurants and cafes, small shops and some interesting old corners. Even some Roman remains.
This is one of the old town gates, beautiful symmetrical palm trees and a clump of vivid bougainvillea.
