Au Claire De La Loony
Today we took the Loony to the village of Rochefort en Terre - we knew that she would love the tiny streets and shops, and we were right - look at her jumping with joy.
We arrived very early for us - we had already stopped off at the Questembert market where we bought du pain et du Croissants, and some more Salted Caramel Sauce. NOM.
We visited the church which has stood there since 1400; the Chocolatier who works in a picturesque shop which was once "Une Auberge" and still retains most of the architectural features, in addition to a swathe of toffee and Breton cakes.
We also visited the English trader who happily supplied us with ribbons of lights (For Tooli's garden party), and we stopped off for lunch.
I used to be proud of the fact, that I could remember most of my French. Sadly my mouth appears to be unable to pronounce it the way it should be. Not one French person has been able to understand my attempts; i'm not even sure that they knew I was speaking French.
Our meal was lovely. Steak for Papa et moi. Hache for Tooli. Dessert... Papa opted for "Grande Cafe". Thinking he was going to get a "Big Coffee", Tooli and I opted for "Fraiselle et Caramal Sall" Which we understood to be Caramel Salted Cheesecake.
Boy were we ever wrong.
Papa, won the Dessert Game. He got a coffee, and three separate desserts, Brownie, Cheesecake, and Profitor Roll.
Tooli and I received something we hoped was perhaps Creme Caramel like, but it wasn't. It was Baby Sick like, with a Caramel sauce drizzled over it. I think it was creme cheese, but not the kind of creme cheese like Marscapone or Riccotta, think more, Cottage Cheese, with Chives, with added Caramel.
Tooli mashed hers up, to cover as much as possible in Caramel. I tried to down mine in big spoonful, leaving the caramel to wash my mouth out with after.
We were both unsuccessful.
