More Dogs
I stopped to take a photo of the sleeping dogs, explaining to the folks standing around that I liked dogs. This friendly man gestured that he would take my picture in front of the dogs, so he did that, and then he told me to take HIS picture in front of the dogs. He said he liked dogs, too.
At morning class today, when I went to put my mat down in the second row, a few people suggested I move up, and I thought, what the heck. That's how I came to do Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I), one of my more challenging poses, about three feet in front of Geeta. I must have been in her ocular blind spot, or there were other fish to fry, because she said nothing about my sorry hip rotation. Hurray. (If you want help visualizing my placement, see this photo and imagine my mat starting where her feet are.)
There were some laughs in class when, after she had us come up from a lunge-type position into Warrior I (the point was to lift from apana), she said that the youngsters should do it again and everyone else could rest in Uttanasana. We all looked confused. She said, "40! If you're under 40, do some more." Then she raised it to 45, then 50. Most of the people in the room were doing it, so she said something like, "Oh, so now everyone is under 50?!" Clearly not, but she also said it would keep us young.
