Cyprus Day 4
Eva woke up with lots more spots. She still didn't seem to be too poorly with it in the morning so we decided to still head out for the day and just to keep our distance from other people. We rang the insurance company and they said we had to get a Dr to confirm it was chicken pox so we rang the local surgery and he was a lovely guy and squeezed us in between other patients. He confirmed it was and prescribed some anti bac wash, camomile and antihistamines.
We were feeling a bit fed up as it took up half the day trying to sort that and have started worrying about the logistics of one of us being stuck in Cyprus with Eva and the other one taking Tobes home as the insurance will only cover her plus one of us. There's also the risk of Toby getting it before Saturday and us then being stuck out here for another 5 days and if that happens we are in the sh!t as I have to cover holidays for our staff when I get home and we have no-one else to do that. So it looks like Mike will stay here with Eva and I will take Toby home but the thought of leaving them here just makes me feel really sad. This is supposed to be our holiday, our family time, our chance to unwind and not have anything to worry about and it just feels really unfair this is now hanging over us.
But we decided we just had to get on with it and try and enjoy the time we have left. It could be worse. So we headed up to Cape Greco - a good hours drive north and touted as one of the most beautiful places on the island. Maybe it was my mood, maybe we have been spoiled by some of the amazing places we have seen on our travels but all I could see was a scrubby cliff top and a few caves with some used tissues in them. There was a pretty church there which seemed nice until a tacky 'vintage' bus wedding turned up with blaring dance music and spilled out its orange spray tanned guests into the car park. We spent the whole afternoon pouring over the map, trying to find out if we had somehow missed something - this amazingly beautiful spot that other people on trip advisor had raved about.
There was a nice beach at Konnos where the kids enjoyed playing in the sea for a bit but the wind was picking up a bit so we only stopped for an hour or so. We thought we would stay out for something to eat so headed down the coast nr Nissi beach. We parked up and had a walk and found another really nice little beach with shallow water oerfect for swimming. We decided we'd come back there another day but Tobes had other ideas and wanted to stay and play. He ended up covered in sand again and sat in the sea in his pants so by the time we had walked back to the car and changed him we couldn't be bothered to eat out so stopped off for supplies on the way back to the apartment. Eva was getting more and more grisly and with more and more spots appearing we did the right thing going back. She had an awful night poor little thing. There didn't seem to be anything we could do to get her comfy. We slept with her in shifts but none of us really got much sleep at all.
