Pocket Stool

Woke up at 8am to go to the city with Matt for the day. We went into the Bronx first to wander around the Botanical Gardens. We saw the "Monet's Garden" exhibit which turned out to not be as exciting as advertised. There were only 2 actual paintings, 3 photographs, 67 steps up to the exhibit, and one fire alarm disturbing our viewing pleasure. Continuing our expedition, we headed through the Children's area, the rose garden, the trial rose garden, the swamp, the lilacs, the apple trees, the waterfall trail, and avoided the ornamental conifers.

From there we headed back to downtown Manhattan and ate lunch in Union Square. Bounced around Barnes and Nobles and laughed at the people lined up to see Joan Rivers (a total of like..ten people...maybe).

We then went to Webster Hall and saw Dan Mangan and Blind Pilot perform from the front row because Jillian didn't remember what time the concert started so we were there an hour early and practically first in line. Anywho, Dan Mangan was odd. Blind Pilot was spectacular live. I really really liked it.

Since we were already in the city and because the theater in Union Square is one of the only ones in NY playing it we went to see Wes Anderson's new film Moonrise Kingdom. It was absolutely wonderful and everything I hoped it would be so you should all go see it.

And after that we headed home on the "drunk train" at 1:30 during which we watched a couple fight for entertainment. My legs hurt because we walked approximately 10 miles total and stood for 3 hours at the concert...but it was all so very worth it.
