Black Caps Keeping Warm up North
Spent the day watching the 5th and final day of the England vs New Zealand Test Match at Headingley as a bit of indulgence.
Here are the Kiwi's gathering together like those other flightless birds Penguins - it was raw today, with winds gusting up to 50mph. The final act of the drama that is Test Match Cricket played out today. For those of us that follow the game, there are so many twists and turns, stories and stories within stories. England didn't look great today, the Black Caps played well and eventually completed a deserved victory. I suspect that this team could become a good vintage for New Zealand, a good group of players, some solid and talented individuals and an attitude of playing to win from the first ball that makes watching their games compelling whichever side you support.
During the last test I thought - they're missing someone like Danny Vettori who recently retired, someone to keep one end tight with a slow arm for a while, grab a few wickets and knock the odd run - in his second test Mark Craig did exactly that. His performance this morning whilst not spectacular or headline grabbing was for me the stand out performance of the day, one to watch in the future.
