We're used to pretty inclement weather in Belfast, but this is ridiculous...

Thankfully, the frozen fountain in the city centre wasn't some weird side-effect of global warming but a publicity stunt for Game of Thrones, which Belfast is very proud to have filmed here. 

Of course, it's tempting to say that the marketing people picked one of just three months a year when residents might actually see this very sight, so it's not exactly a novelty. But that wouldn't be getting into the spirit of things. 

The soap-bubble snow was a nice touch, I thought. The family of Japanese tourists who'd just got off a bus seemed a little bewildered, though...
