Retirement gift

I rescued this from my father-in-law's effects and it now has joined my collection of 'favourite objects' (an occasional series.) It is an engineering model of an industrial electrical motor (he was an electrician) given as a retirement gift when he retired from ICI. It must have been a labour of love by a colleague as it made from metal stock and parts are turned on the lathe. It seems so much nicer than the usual clock or watch.
