Where's my Trevor Howard?
It was a wet and windy morning, I thought people would stay in bed and let us open up the teashop in peace...pah! how wrong can you be! Oh my, it was a busy start to the day. Pat had just nipped out to pick up a few essentials when the world and his wife walked in wanting breakfast. We coped...of course...and even managed to whizz up some cakes.
Unfortunately, I forgot to add baking powder, but with creating decorating skills...he he he...lack of depth was hidden by a bit of this and a bit of that :)
A man came in and we ended up chatting about steam trains...I can't remember how we got onto that subject...he said he drove the trains on the East Lancs Railway:
Me: Do you ever get involved with the steam train days?
Him: Oh yes, they are great fun.
Me: I've always fancied having a go at driving
Him: You are usually in pairs and you spend the morning driving and the afternoon shovelling coal, it is hard work, but great fun
Me: You'd have to throw in a Brief Encounter too....
At this point his wife looked at me!!!
Me: Eeek I don't mean with you....I mean a Brief Encounter as in a Trevor Howard moment......
I was just digging deeper, his wife's eyebrows were going higher and Pat was chortling in the background, "We have terrible trouble with her..."
He he he he. Anyway, he's going to drop some leaflets off for me.
I finished at 2pm and then raced down to the Quays to watch a bit of the dragon boat racing...I had a go at that a few years ago and I'd love to do it again sometime...to have a Hawaii Five O moment....(now if someone could organise an Hawaii Five O moment combined with a Brief Encounter moment then that would make a Wonderful Life!)
