A shady corner (under the bridge)
It was another gorgeous day that we awoke to. The only plan was dinner that evening at a restaurant I had booked for my birthday celebrations. We hopped in the metro and made our way to The Tuileries Gardens (a detour which led to a more extended exploration as they were so amazing!) and then onto Musee de l'Orangerie. After catching a bite to eat in the gardens we decided to walk to the Eiffel Tower. I noticed these little origami cranes attached to a bridge that we passed under. We saw many spectacular and awe inspiring sites on our journey but there was something lovely and intimate about finding this tiny creation. To me it was an illustration of how creatively nurturing Paris can be.
We made it to the Eiffel Tower in the late afternoon and had a grand time ascending the structure on foot (thirsty work! but what a view) Then it was a mad dash to get back to the apartment in order to get changed for our dinner date. We made it just in time and it was well worth it (a six course taster menu chosen by the chef, great food and a great atmosphere) The night continued on, a few cocktails at a tiny bar near Les Halles and after that a quiet metro ride back to our petit apartment in Montmartre!
