Thames Path: Cricklade to Lechlade: 11 miles
Leaving Cricklade and we see across six shades of green the steeple of one of its lovely churches. But it's not really a steeple without the point bit. It has four mini steeples and a pad for the traditional centre piece but it was never built and maybe it doesn't need it. Another lovely day walking this river of rivers already growing broad from its humble beginnings near Kemble. There are frequent pill boxes all along the river built as the last line of defence for the Midlands in the event of a Nazi invasion. Fortunately never required!
