It's Neck & Neck
A very last minute decision was made to travel to Berkeley Castle today, for deerhound racing.
It's the first time that it's been held at the castle, as the event used to be held at the National Trust property, Lodge Park. A few years ago, it stopped taking place, due to expensive insurance costs.
A mechanical lure is used to pull along a white cloth, whilst two deerhounds are released and are meant to chase it. That's what is supposed to happen anyway. The reality is that either one or neither of the dogs bothers and the whole race is aborted.
The owners of the deerhounds dress in 17th century costumes and a piper leads a parade before the racing commences. Mckenzie was the youngest person there and dressed up as a knight.
All good fun.
Oh and Brodie got to meet her sister again, who turned out to be very grumpy. Probably a bit of jealousy, as Brodie got lots of fuss made of her by her owner.
