First of the season

1. Waking up in East Kilbride feels oddly like being on holiday. I never expected to hear myself say that, but the sun is up, the birds a re chirupping - or whatever birds do - and we're off work.

2. With nothing for it than a walk round the shopping centre, I buy that French Connection dress for Helen's wedding and something for the awards next week. I have never been this organised outfitwise before. It feels odd. In a good way.

3. Two superb bacon rolls and a pot of tea then down the road.

4. Our first asparagus of the season. Later than last year, but my god it's tasty.

5. Selkirk messes the size of balloons for pudding as we watch Remains of the Day.
