Passy to the Aravis
This morning we wrapped up warm & headed up to Les Contamines. Parking before La Duchere we went up to have a look at the climbing cliff - wow will it need to get warmer by the weekend for that to be anything other than type2 fun!
We then made our way up the steep path alongside the Gorde du Notre Dame, all the time aware that the hillside not at all far above us was covered in snow - emerging into the open at Nant Borrant the way markers told us that non of the refuges have opened yet - this time last year we were drinking coffee & sampling home cured ham with the Guardian. As the snow began to fall we decided we'd pushed our (weather) luck enough and headed down. Going for a late lunch by the Passy Lacs it was warm & sunny - but we could see the next weather front approaching over the Aravis Mountains to the North.
So have tried & tried to add some extra pics of Alpine flowers fr TonyG & others - but Blip won't play ball. So today we saw; Globe Flowers, Meadow Clary, Alpine Yellow Violets, Wood Sorrel, Vipers Bugloss, Red Campion, Rampions, Field Bindweed and lots of not quite there yet others.
