It was a misty start to the kids' school Athletics Carnival. The 800m races were going as everyone else arrived. Yours truly was on javelin duty and I was glad to be away from the chanting and general noise of the stands. I can't say my kids are keen competitors but they were cajoled into doing their bit. 

Now I have completed seven volunteer hours. Another five and I will avoid the $350 penalty applied in the end of year financial statement.
