Spring snows

Two magnificent Sgurrs today.

As Greg Wallace likes to say in MasterChef: "it just doesn't get better than this".

We got to the top after a long cycle in and a soggy haul up. We scrambled up the superb rocky steps to be presented with a superb vista from atop a gorgeously sculpted snow ridge. The broken weather skirted neatly around us all day - the Torridon hills in the background bore the full brunt of the lashing rain while we sat on a practically windless top eating our lunch in the sun.

Two tops - Sgurr Choinnich (999m) and Sgurr a'Chaorachain (1053m) that will feature in our hall of fame as two of the best.

A 1000' soft snow slope, a 1000' careful steep descent and back to the bikes for a white knuckle ride back down into the valley.

A cracking day out. We were mighty happy we didn't choose to go for Beinn Eighe.
