BLACK SWAN WITH CYGNETS
Well what a surprise for the time of year - A pair of Black swans with three little ( as one of my kids used to say 'singlets' ) I had to wrack my brain as to whether they were late bred or with the weather as its been they thought it was spring and are early - I decided Late as they would have had to sit on eggs for about 21 days and these youngsters are around two weeks old so - 5 weeks ago would make them late bred. - It was a nice encounter in a special spot which I'm fortunate to have access to. (Cygnus aratus) Introduced from Australia to NZ just prior to1864. Eggs 4-7 greenish white. Only three of these survived the sitting.
