Camas

The bulbs of Camas flowers used to be a stable in the Native Americans' diet. They also helped in the survival of the Lewis and Clark expedition. The bulbs would be pit-roasted or boiled. ( this all from Wiki). Remnants of the fields still exist in the Willamette Valley. This single Camas bloom is from the Fern Ridge Reservoir near Eugene. We spent the day there helping Micah and Savanna get the nursery ready. Delightful dinner at Billy Mac's.
