Fields of gold

Today’s the day ........................... for wildlife

Actually, every day on a canal is a day to watch wildlife – and see all the different kinds of scenery that is to be found in this part of England.

At this time of year there are young, fluffy ducklings, cygnets, moorchicks and goslings – and their anxious parents trying to keep them under control.  There are enormous golden fields of rapeseed that seem to glow a fluorescent yellow and everywhere, the trees are coming into leaf.  The canal banks are full of wildflowers – bluebells, pink campion, lady’s smock and an abundance of others.

Mother Nature is in full production mode .......................
