Holyrood Palace side gates

Holyrood was originally founded as a monastery in 1128. It has undergone many changes over the years and is now regarded as the Queen's official residence in Scotland.

I went for a walk to blow the cobwebs away!!. Have been headachey for the past couple of days, and am working tonight. It was bitterly cold, so didn't go far, only walked from Abbeyhill to meadowbank through Holyrood park, then had to go home for a caffeine fix.

I liked the contrast between the greys and greens of the stonework and hillside, and the bright colours of the cars, portacabins, and blue scaffolding covers, even if I did miss the tops of the gateposts. The photos which showed the tops of these posts, were diminshed by the sky and cloud cover.
