Picture postcards

Well today seems to have been a picture postcard type of day.  We left Dartmouth and stopped at Slapton Ley which has a long fine shingle beach and a nature reserve around the large inland lake nearby.  The sun was beginning to break through the cloud giving a soft hazy light as we walked around the lake spotting sand martins, reed warblers and maybe a cetti's warbler, a swan sitting on its nest and a pair of ducks giving their feathers a real good preen.  

We then moved on to Salcombe enjoying being able to move around this small seaside town on the Kingsbridge estuary which is usually full of yachts and tourists during summer.  

Then onto Bantham where we sat on the beach watching several youngsters learning to surf.  There are dramatic views here across to Bigbury on Sea and also views up the River Avon estuary where this shot was taken.

Although its my 500th blip, I'm afraid its a picture postcard one but I do like the shapes and colours of the vegetation in it.  Also included are two more 'postcards' one from Slapton Leys nature reserve along with one of the preened female duck and one from Salcombe.

I'm surprised to be still posting blips after 500 days, during a time in which we have moved house and I have given up work.  But the support from other members, the access to so many different types of journals and photos has inspired me to keep trying to develop my photographers eye and keep on the learning curve.  Thank you blippers.
