Diary of an Edinburgher

On the lookout!

Today was the fastest hospital visit - I had just come in, saw Jeremy Kyle was shouting again on the TV, asked the elderly couple in the waiting room if they minded if I changed channels ('Please do!') and I sat down to wait till the receptionist was free so that I could ask for the remote control. The nurse then came to get me. On time! They're pleased with my blood tests and I'll be discharged to the doctor for next week.

I'm so grateful for the NHS - though I did have a rant about the waiting times at the weekend. Seven hours on Saturday, but what was unforgivable was that they left me there all day - nobody came and suggested I pop to the cafe for a cuppa. I did have water available...

I have taken to giving Archie access to the lounge when I leave him in the house - he loves lying in the sun in the mornings, and he has a special mat that he uses to sleep on the sofa. When I came home I looked in the window, and there he was, on his mat. He doesn't get up to any mischief - though I make sure there are no important things on the coffee table...

Here he is on the lookout for JR. No wonder my lovely clean windows are smudgy!
