Not so grey after all

Having written off Tianjin as a grey city a few days ago, I now have to revise my opinions. A drive around the centre of the city – bigger population than London – has shown a different side of the city and it has lots of fascinating buildings.

The most impressive to my eye was the old British football stadium in this image. Now gutted and converted to restaurants and shops, this is one of the first tracks that Eric Liddell of Chariots of Fire fame ran on.

Out with the Master of Wellington College Tianjin catching up on various bits and pieces of school gossip helped by some decent red wine and a huge steak. Not a bad way to spend the evening.
