The Shore

It was a very wet, windy night, normaly I can't hear the weather in my flat as it's pretty much sheltered by other flats and has good double glazed windows and thick curtains but I heard the rain lashing against my window last night! It was a bit calmer during the day and by late afternoon the sun came out, it was actually almost pleasant in the sunshine although not particularly warm.

I saw an article on the internet about a new bar that had opened in Leith, it used to be called "Bond No. 9" but after some disagreement with the lease holder they have moved up to Picardy Place. I decided to drop by and check it out. The new bar is called "Wolf + Water" (no idea why), they have refurbished the inside but it is still basically the same layout as The Bond used to be on Commercial Quay. Their menu has a number of interesting looking burgers on it as well as a few other dishes, as well as the usual selection of drinks they are also advertising cocktails and alcoholic "Slushies", their beer taps are a reasonable range but I was very surprised to see that they had a tap with "Dogfish Head DNA" from the states, not something I've come across before, although I have heard of them. After sitting down with my pint I noticed they also had two unlabeled taps behind the bar under a "Dark Wolf Brewery" sign, Dark Wolf Brewery used to be Tradition Scottish Ales (or TSA) Brewing Co. Upon investigating the barman told me one was a lager (Coulls?) the other was a Stout (Glencoe?).

I'll pop back in to try out their food on another occasion but at £4.50 a pint and their small range of "craft" draft beers I doubt I'll be making regular stops, although it does look as if they have quite a lot of outdoor seating which should catch the late afternoon sun.
