Rockin' it down at Hartley Vale
This is one of my favourite drives in the mountains - descending from the Causeway into Hartley Vale. Snaking it down with the lovely stretch of open-faced rocks so close that you could just lean out the window and grasp them.
But tonight was stiff competition with a drive in the dark to Cat's for her birthday. This time descending into the nearby Megalong Valley and then turning off early up into the area just under the Hydro. It was the most beautiful drive in the darkness with tree trunks and fern fronds briefly lit up as I rolled and jolted past.
Wonderful experience crossing a fast flowing creek in the dark by torchlight and then joining in with experienced drummers around a large and generous fire. Above the trees framed the stars and diaphanous clouds wisped past like they had somewhere to go.
