Boy peeing

Yes, this is a pic of a person, taking a 'selfie', in front of a tiny statue of a little boy peeing!  Has the world gone mad?  Have we really lost our sense of perspective?  Is this not a case of the 'emperor's new clothes' syndrome??  Why the excitements? What's it all about??

The statue in question is actually "Manneken Pis" (and it is exactly what it sounds like) - "Little man pee' in Flemish.  He is the emblem of the city of Brussels - a mere 61cm in height. (On our visit, we wandered for quite some time to find him and when we did, my friend's first thought was "Is that it?"  I think she was expecting life-size at the very least.)

He has a wardrobe of over 900 outfits, and these are changed several times a week - on the day we visited him he was unadorned.  There are many stories as to his origin and meaning.  Whatever they are, crowds surround him and he is well-loved as a Belgian, national treasure.
