CHEERFUL FIELDS
of the yellow rape flowers.
As we had not left our town for rather a long time, we were surprised (well, not really of course) to see on our trip to Beverungen yellow fields in the distance.
We had an appointment and after that we drove up hill to find out if we could take pictures of the splendour. The day had started rather dark but at the right moment the clouds went off and the sun lit the earth again.
One need a lucky chance to catch the beauty of the rape fields and I doubted if we could easily find a spot where that presented itself to us.
Nevertheless I am happy with my first impression.
A lazy afternoon, first in the sunshine, then came the rain, then the sun. and so it went all afternoon.
It is a common story nowadays.
My haiku:
The splendour of yellow
All around us for a short time
The sun has come down
And the proverb:
Yellow's forsaken, and green's forsworn, but blue and red ought to be worn.
1862 Hislop, 334. In allusion to the supersticious notions formerly held regarding these colours.
My yesterday's Bombylius is actually a fly, not a bee. A 'Hummelschweber',
