The best bits
Viewed from Gathersnow Hill are Culter Fell, the first top of the day after a fairly brutal climb but then some fine running on undulating terrain, and the long grassy descent from Hudderstone into the valley. What I've omitted was the 5km where ATVs had turned soft ground into a continuous shallow bog. Still, a fine excursion and well inside the "allow 2h45" in Steve Fallon's [excellent] "Classic Hill Runs and Races in Scotland", although I'm sure he goes round considerably faster than me!
