View of the Buda side of the Danube
Yesterday's journey went without a hitch, and just eight hours after leaving the Dower House we were in our Hotel in the centre of Budapest.
This morning we met up with son#2 and his partner and they guided us to Keleti Station to buy train tickets to Vienna tomorrow. I have to say that the Hungarians don't make it easy for foreigners to get around with the language barrier, and had we not had Luca speaking Hungarian and acting as a tour guide, I'm sure we would still be floundering about in the station.
There were a few jaunts on the underground and a visit to a cake shop for supplies to take on the river boat up the Danube to the remote suburb of Ròmaifürdö and a cool path by the Danube with access to a stoney beach where we sat and had a lunch of langos with a beer to wash it down. Langos is just one of the most unhealthy meals you could dream up - a huge round of flaky croissant type pastry filled with sour cream and topped with a huge amount of grated cheese. Suffice it to say that this Lady was defeated and couldn't finish it.
Back to Budapest by boat and this blip of the Buda side of Budapest right across from the Parliament.
