We woke up to a beautiful spring day. No sense staying indoors on a day like this. We went out for breakfast, then continued up the highway to the Douglas Lake Road.

Spring is a great time to visit cattle country. Things are greening up. There are new calves every where. The cowboys are out moving cattle around. 

We came across two working cowboys and their dogs who were gathering up a small herd and moving them along the roadway. One cowboy moved his horse and two dogs into a hayfield to round up two cows and their calves. It meant dismounting, laying the barbed wire gate on the ground, then mounting up to chase the stragglers back in with the herd. Then, the herd could be moved up the road.
