Dowie Dens

I drove down to Roberton ( just beyond Hawick) in order to attend John's funeral. It was good to see some old friends there (Wizz, Ralph, Jaqcui, etc)  and to meet up again with wee Rebecca R after all these years (at least 30, since she moved to Australia).

I'd been playing J's music at high volume in the car on the way down, but on the way back decided to put on a CD by his early compadre, Dorris Henderson. I'd forgotten that she'd recorded one of his songs which mentions the pull of the Dowie Dens o' Yarrow (compared with Cap Ferrat), but it came on the player just as I started heading home the pretty way. There were a lot better views than this but none where I could safely stop and take a photo.

Sun's gonna shine in my back door some day
Sun's gonna shine in my back door some day.
Wind's gonna rise, and blow my troubles away.

Safe home, dear friends.
