Foulshaw Moss
Today's the day ..................... for the boardwalk
We went to Foulshaw Moss today - to see if we could catch a glimpse of the ospreys that have returned to nest there.
Lots of work had been done on the reserve since we were there in June last year. There was a completely renovated boardwalk which carried you over the moss in fine style and made it easy to get to the viewing point. Once there, you needed quite a strong pair of binoculars or a big zoom lens to see anything in detail on the actual nest - but there were a few kind people about who were happy to share theirs. And then, of course, you can tune into the webcam once you get home. We did see them both flying though - together with a pair of marsh harriers that were passing by.
Quite honestly, I always think it's pretty amazing that they can find their way back to the same tree after their winter vacation in Africa...........................
