Old Calton Burial Ground

This old burial ground on the side of Calton Hill contains the tombs of many prominent Scots, including the philosopher David Hume, publishers Constable and Blackwood and the scientist John Playfair.
The dominant monument, seen from many points in the city, is this obelisk erected in memory of a group of political reformers who at the end of the 18th century were pressing for universal suffrage. Their names are inscribed on the monument; all were transported to Botany Bay.

On a mundane football note - Hibs 4 Alloa 1.
