End of another season

Following two promotions, two trophies & a shot at the play-offs in the past three seasons, some may say that this has been a disappointing one for Guernsey FC. However, I would say that we have done well to stay in this league, Ryman Isthmian League Division One South, when you look back at the vast number of injuries we had at the beginning of the season. We are certainly capable of a deserving promotion in the future but there is no harm in staying where we are for the moment.

The last game of the season was played at home versus Worthing. A decent team, sitting 6th in the table, it was a scrappy first half for us until we managed to equalise 1-1 just before the half-time break.

The second half was an improvement, despite a few mistakes in defence & Worthing making it very difficult for us to convert anymore goals. But the hard work & perseverance paid off with a concluding score of 5-2 to Guernsey, including a Ross Allen hat trick :-)

My blip is our superstar mascot being pushed around the pitch on a trolley by Roary the Lion. This superstar has been a fan of GFC since the beginning and has been receiving treatment for Acute Lymphatic Leukaemia for even longer. We were thrilled to help him celebrate, today, the end of his treatment in a week's time!
