Grey Squirrel, Contra Jour

There was a time when we were advised always to keep the light behind us and not to be shooting into it. Modern lenses with their multi coating though can handle backlighting very well so there really is no need to run with the old rules any more. The lens here was a Tamron 18-200mm which isn't the best used against the light but it works well enough.
This shot is an example of staying alert and aware of what's going on in the peripheral vision. As I walked through St.Stephen's Green in Dublin today, I bacame aware of a sudden movement in the trees to my right. A quick turn of the head and here was Mr.Squirrel looking down on me. Not to be missed, I just stood very still and allowed him to know that I was no threat. Even managed to get a few more shots before he lost interest and went about his business.
