orchard

a magical thing has happened at the Park since I was there last Wednesday. A patchwork froth of green has appeared along the woodland walk, punctuated by the large glossy leaves and white stars of wild garlic and the bending heads of bluebells. Meanwhile in the Walled Kitchen Garden all manner of structures have sprung up. Bean poles, pea sticks, nets to covers cabbages, seedlings beneath them. The greengage trees in the orchard are lacy white with blossoms. I had lunch sitting under them, insects buzzing, petals occasionally drifting down.
