Lowburn in the rain

I was not involved in this “incident” which occurred this morning when the bloke (complete with loan car) failed to arrive at the appointed time and The Boss called, got the “really sorry” message and then took Suzz to the fixit blokes to return with a loaner. I didn’t go ‘Cos of that loaner things potential incompatibility with ME so I stayed behind and sulked.
Tiny got to go ‘Cos she is kinda attached to the camera pak and probably wouldn’t have offended any body.

What follows is a Lightroom lesson for all potential Blip arrivals.
The Boss shot this at the Lowborn bridge on the way bark from Cromwell. It was wonderfully DFO.  (Dull, Flat and Orrible) and had a “like” factor of -7 on the -10 scale.

So Lightroom happened as The Boss ‘Tuned” the image for a sunny day by increasing the highlights, increasing the whites, and increasing the blacks to add contrast, and upping the Clarity a tad and then went bark with the adjustment brush set to lower the highlights and painted the background a bit.

Voila!  Some sun came out as you can see.

The Boss says that this would have been really hard to do in the Filim days but is making a point of this because the weather can, but probably won’t, do bad things and every photographer needs a “digital response” when bad stuff happens as it is way cheaper (but not as much fun) than flying in again later on a sunny day. You may also possibly think (but I could not comment) that this result could be better than having the sun shining.

Exec Summary. Don’t put your camera away on grotty days just learn to shift the light a bit.

Paw Script. Actually the weather is looking good for the weekend so if you like you can use the above technique in reverse to make it look like it was orrible and all your friends will feel sorry for you.

No Charge for that advice
