Mary Slessor : Mother of all the Peoples
A bright sunny morning.
Last evening we went to see 'Mother of all the Peoples', which is a musical about the life of Mary Slessor (2 December 1848 – 13 January 1915). She was a Scottish Missionary to Nigeria. Her work and strong personality allowed her to be trusted and accepted by the locals while spreading Christianity, protecting native children and promoting women's rights. It was a very moving and funny performance of a very feisty Dundee lass in a very difficult situation in Africa.
We also met up at the theatre with a lady from our first Church in Edinburgh, whom we hadn't seen for 33 years, although we had kept up with her via Christmas cards and emails. We had arranged to meet her there with her husband. Much chatting ensued which only ended because they had an hour's drive in front of them.
In other news, Pastor Christopher has told me that he has been granted an interim License for the School, which will give them a year to complete all the Government requirements.
