Ridiculous

.... what a difference a sunny start, a bike ride and a new summer dress makes to her tolerance of going to school

Katie had a good day at school today - she came out with quite a lot to tell me. Today was her school's 40th birthday so they had a big assembly for that. There was a "HUUUUUUGEEEE cake, Mama. And EVERYONE gets a piece tomorrow. I think Mr <Headteacher> will get to eat the <SchoolMascot>... Thats what I think will happen. Mr A brought the cake in. And we sang happy birthday to school". Her school has, in 40 years, gone from 17 students to 460 and is a continuously outstanding school, a national teaching school plus lead in the county's Riding Forward alliance. They have a lot to celebrate today - and did so with their usual style. They do like a good "occasion". She was, however, equally excited that today the Foundation children got to go in the Nature reserve for the first time. They did a bug and wildlife hunt, played a game and then the teacher played hide and seek with them. She thought that was truly excellent.

After school it was her swimming lesson. She enjoyed time with friends in the cafe beforehand. They swam hard today. A lot of lengths for little legs. She got ready quickly and straight home because tonight Granny and Grandad were coming for a Tuesday on Wednesday! We had tea and then her & Grandad went to play with the rabbits & have a play in the garden. She spent a while filling her watering can and generally messing about with the hose after they'd had a good turn hurling the ball around. And hiding it up Grandad's jumper.

She was nicely snuggled in bed, nearly asleep when my friend/neighbour popped round to pick something up. She appeared at my side as I chatted in the door and went very bouncy!
