Found this boy in the lambing fields this morning very hypothermic (when I put my finger in his mouth it was cold). He was cold, wet and weak, one of a twin. I took him away from the ewe straight away knowing he would need intensive care. I set up his cardboard box with a heat lamp above it in my porch and made up some colostrum powder milk. He readily sooked it from the bottle which was a great sign. I have been feeding him at regular intervals throughout the day and as you can see from the collage he is getting stronger and stronger. Top left was first thing this morning. Top right was lunchtime and bottom was at dinner time. He will stay in the box overnight and all being well go out to cozy lamb pen in the shed tomorrow. The dogs just love to stare at the lambs when they are in the house its like tv for them. We keep them out of his porch the rest of the time!
Had another calf this morning Katie had a male calf. All fine and well.
8c SW 10mph sunshine and heavy hail/rain showers less frequent in the afternoon. Had thunder and lightening hail showers last night that left the ground white for a lot of the day.
