Neighbours

I frequently cycle past this area but only noticed a couple of days ago that both a Coot and a Great Crested Grebe had built a nest there. Today the former was feeding 6 mouths while I was there, while the latter, as far as I could tell, was still sitting on eggs. It was impossible to count how many there were though when the Grebe eventually stood up briefly to change its position on them.
