False Idols

Despite all of the natural birds attracted to "our" yards by virtue of my feeder/s and my water dishes (especially the one on our joint wall), my neighbor decided to put this phony bird on her back wall.  Many times I have seen the birds walk up to it and then fly away because it appears to be a barrier, of sorts, to them.

This Gambel's Quail seems a bit curious.  "Who are you?," he might be asking.  "You don't appear to be one of us or anyone from the neighborhood."   He stood there a good long while, looking it up and down.

"Shoo!," I'd like to imagine him saying.  I don't like it one bit.  I'd rather have real birds!  But it's not up to me to say...
