Clouds gave way to a beautiful sunny day, so up to the Christ statue with nephew and family. We (and that includes HH and his new hip) took a van from Copacabana, which we expected to be a poor alternative to  the cog railway through the forest. However, it was a great way to get up there, via a roundabout route through some interesting neighbourhoods (lovely old roads and houses cheek by jowl with an ever-expanding shanty town, full of drama and violence), as well as rain forest. A good day.
