Fun at the Falkirk Wheel
I had a lovely Blipmeet today with Freuchie, when we met for lunch in Stirling and then drove on to visit the Falkirk Wheel. I managed to get us lost both on the way there and the way back, but we made it in the end:-)
The Wheel is an amazing feat of engineering, using hydraulic power only to move boats between the Forth & Clyde Canal and the Union Canal. a distance of 24 metres. It does this almost silently, so you have to be watching when it starts to move as you certainly won't hear it! It is the only rotating boat lift of its kind in the world.
Being the Easter holidays, there were lots of families enjoying the facilities at the Wheel, including three clear spheres for youngsters to "walk on water". Such energy and enthusiasm:-)
Many thanks to Freuchie for a most enjoyable Blipmeet and I'm looking forward to the next one and deciding where we'll go:-)
