Traps for Tired Travelling Tourists
Last year, on our way home from Florida, Lisa and I were drawn off of the highway by a billboard advertising Georgia pecans for $3.99 a pound. $3.99 A POUND!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THAT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! And...it was. The 3.99 was for ground pecan meal. How do you eat that? By licking it off of your palm?
This year I'm driving home by myself, but still the bright billboards beckon. SEE BABY GATORS AT THE FLORIDA CITRUS STATION. I needed a blip. Hmmmm.
The baby gators (there were maybe 6) were housed in a big fish tank, with bad lighting and bad reflections. Plus, besides the babies, the place was selling gator heads. From $14.99 for a small one, to $79.99 for a large one.
Are the alligators raised so they can chop off and sell their heads, or are they hunted for their head and hides? I don't know.
I decided to go for color. My choices were oranges, grapefruit, or these coconut "heads." They sell for $5.99.

I ended up going 561 miles, and I am holed up in Commerce, Georgia watching the NCAA basketball game. Tomorrow (if it stops raining), I hope to visit a couple of waterfalls.
