More Mozart

Day 2 in Vienna.

Today I got my money's worth from my hop-on hop-off bus ticket. I took both routes around the city's sights and both walking tours. Lunch followed by coffee and cake (of course) was enjoyed in Cafe Central. I also wandered the parks which contained composer statues. A very cheesy photograph of me holding an invisible violin may or may not have been taken next to the Strauss monument - with him in the same pose.

In the evening I went to the historic Musikverein for a concert of Mozart repertoire performed in period dress. have watched the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Day Concert on the TV a few times so it was wonderful to actually be in the beautiful concert hall listening to fantastic overtures, arias and my first full performance of Mozart's Requiem. It was also nice to be seated next to a fellow solo traveller to chat to during the interval.

Sadly a lot of tourists were viewing the concert through their smartphone cameras and clapped between the movements - tut tut.
