About mile 2 in the fast race.

The start of the 24 hour Devizes to Westminster canoe race. I took nowhere near as many photos, due to the girl coming with me. She was interested to a point, but unsatisfied with the temperature and my lack of convincing answers to what would they all do for breakfast, lunch and tea. She's also unsurprisingly perplexed by the fact that she's not supposed to talk to strangers, yet it's alright to shout "Good luck!" to random strangers on the canal.

I like this shot because of the twin helices (helixes?) of water droplets where the paddles had just been pulled from the water in apparent perfect synchronicity of timing and angle. Also, the guys were smiley.

There's a baker's dozen of other shots from today over on Flickr . If you have a moment take a look at the mono portrait that would have been today's blip were it not for those water droplets. You'll be able to tell which one it is.

That's it for canal blips for a few days at least. You can expect a chocolate bunny, or a cat or a cup of tea or suchlike tomorrow.
